After curing, remove the spar from its location, note that the final dimensions of the
lamination are marked on the lower side. With a band saw or hand saw, cut along these
markings. After completing the process described above, the secondary spar must have
its final dimensions and have a channel of
¼'' on all edges. Prepare a FLOX paste and fill these edges (this time it is not
necessary to leave excess material along the edges, flatten these for a better finish). Allow
healing.
5.13.1.1
Rear spar location and installation
As mentioned before, the assembly of the wing is necessary to establish the steps to
follow. Position the assembled wing in its respective position on the fuselage. Place a
2mm thick piece of laminate on each end of the spar box to prevent the spar from touching
the top of the box. With the aid of trestles and wedges, level the wing in place. Use water
levels to make the job easier. Remember that this is a critical operation and must be
performed with care, so take your time. The wing has a 3-degree angle of attack from the
horizontal (if not done previously, mark the chord line on the outermost ribs and a line
with a 3-degree pitch). Align the 3-degree line with the horizontal using the water level
at the ends.
