Engine strut boosters
Engine support points will be marked on the fire wall plywood panel. It will be
helpful to drill small guide holes through the fire wall to denote the location of the engine
stud pins. Cut the triangular shaped reinforcement and firewall reinforcement strip from
the same plywood panel used for the firewall. A model of these parts must be marked at
the factory on this panel. Secure these cut plywood pieces to the inner surface of the
firewall and the inner section of the lower fuselage with a FLOX paste . The location of
these reinforcements is shown in the following figure.
The long gusset must be attached to the edges of the top gusset. The lower edge of
the upper reinforcement must be aligned with the upper edge of the lower fuselage (WL
0) as shown in the figure above. This brace must be angled so that the bottom surface of
the brace is 1.5 inches away from the engine mounting hole. This will provide free space
for washers that will be installed at each attachment point. The lower gussets are mounted
with a 1.5 inch clearance from the engine mount lower holes. These are installed between
the center lines of the lower mullion holes as shown in the figure above.
