FLOX paste and pass over the edges of the firewall where they will make contact with
the underside of the fuselage. Reposition the fire wall in place with the help of the drilled
holes, fix this with screws through these holes.
5.4.1
Front face of the firewall
All previously cured BID coats that will be glued in later steps should be roughened
and cleaned before applying extra coats. This applies to any part of the assembly process,
and should be kept in mind when scheduling the lamination job. What you leave
unfinished in one work session will have to be repaired before continuing on to the next
work session.
Prepare the inner face of the fuselage flange area and two inches behind the zero
station for the gluing operation. Check that all peel ply and debris have been removed,
clean and roughen these areas, also do the procedure with the front and back face of the
fire wall for gluing.
Put a range of MICRO/FLOX across the entire joint area to provide a small radius
for the lamination. Make a 3-inch wide tape of 2 layers of pre-laminated BID enough to
apply at the junction of the flange with the fire wall and around the fire wall surface with
the lower surface of the fuselage.
