The next step is to install the four hinges in their respective positions on the
stabilizer top casing. Place the hinges on the trailing edge of the top casing with their pins
centered over the slotted corner. Mark hole locations. Countersink the hinge holes to meet
the geometric conditions of the screws provided. Once drilled, place the anchor-nuts on
the hinges and screw with parlock-nuts on the side of the movable part.
4.9
Elevator control horn assembly
Locate the prefabricated control horn and fit it to the side member face, chipping
away the bottom casing as needed. This part will center on BL-0. Using the horn as a
guide drill the eight holes with a drill 3/16” and temporarily mount in place with screws
AN3-10A and locknuts.
Remove the horn and cut the elevator at BL-0 by halving it.
THIS STEP REQUIRES THE COMPLETION OF THE GLUE OF THE
HORIZONTAL STABILIZER ON THE FUSELAGE AS WELL AS THE GLUE OF
THE LEFT REAR FUSELAGE (Section 5.12 ).
Trace a 4.75-inch radius from the center of the outrigger spar flush with the
outrigger liners. Cut out this section as shown below.

End closure
You will notice that the tip cavities are open and the two surfaces are not close
together at the tip. Make a piece of the prepreg material provided to close the elevator
counterweight. This will be located 6 inches behind the elevator tip. After the desired
adjustment, dig the core and pass a MICRO paste in this opening.
