These standards should be incorporated into the standard operating
procedure. A typical Record Sheet example is shown in Appendix C.
In the event of the level detected being more than the safety level the
machine should be shut down immediately and the safety key interlock
on the control console should be removed. The event should be reported
immediately to site radiation personnel. Consult

or your agent representing

before the
machine is restarted. Even if the level is below the safety limit but is a
noticeable increase on the last few readings, the machine should also be
shut down as described above.
The mechanical aspects of the
EZx
are carefully designed to prevent
leakage of
X-ray
s; this is the main reason for prohibition of mechanical
modifications. All panels and lids that can be opened or removed are
interlocked. The
EZx
prevents
X-ray
s from being generated when a
cover or lid is open in two methods.
•
The primary method is a dual channel interlock system. When the
interlock is opened the power to the KV power generator is cut, thus
preventing
X-rays
from being produced.
•
The secondary method is in the software. It continually monitors the
interlock loop and shuts down
X-ray
s if any system error is detected.
Only attempt to service the
EZx
inspection machine if you have been
trained to do so.
WARNING. Only trained personnel should attempt to perform
servicing on the EZx inspection machine.
A suitable qualified person should carry out a radiation survey of
the machine after any servicing operation or there is a change in
product.
