This section details health and safety considerations when working with
X-ray
s. The entire manual should be read and understood before any
servicing, maintenance, or operation of the machine.
Each country, state, province has regulations and requirements regarding
the use of non-medical X-ray equipment. Before installing the
EZx
,
consult with the local and state authority regarding regulations.
Before any
X-ray
machine can be installed and operated on the work
premises in the UK, the following actions
must
take place.
•
The local Health and Safety Executive (HSE) office should have
been informed at least 28 days before the machine is due to be used
for the first time using from F2522.
•
Your company needs to define a set of Local Rules with regards to
ionizing radiation and to notify all personnel their obligations to
safety with ionizing radiation.
•
Your company needs to appoint a Radiation Protection Supervisor
(RPS) within the company; someone trained in local rules that
perform critical examination of the system.
•
It is strongly recommended that your company appoint an
independent body to act as a Radiation Protection Advisor (RPA)
who is responsible for organizing and advising on the above.
•
A
Critical Radiation Survey
must be carried out and recorded by a
qualified person to certify the machine is safe to use (usually a

Service Technician).
