Precautions Regarding WiMAX
Communication Contracts
In the following cases, if you do not cancel your
WiMAX communication contract, your monthly
communication fees may continue to be charged.
For details on how to cancel your WiMAX
communication contract, contact your WiMAX
communication service provider.
Main Cases
You no longer need the WiMAX communication
•
function
You give the computer to someone else
•
You dispose of the computer (including recycling,
•
selling in an auction)
You repair or replace the WiMAX function
•
You repair or replace the wireless LAN
•
Using WiMAX for the First Time
To use WiMAX for the first time after purchase,
you need to enter a contract with a WiMAX
communication service provider. Perform the
following operation within a WiMAX service area.
CAUTION
When communication using WiMAX is started,
•
the communication restarts automatically
after resuming the computer, restarting the
computer, or performing fast user switching.
Communication may also be performed even
while logged off.
If you are not using WiMAX, turn off WiMAX, or
click [Disconnect] in [Intel
®
PROSet/Wireless
WiMAX Connection Utility] to disconnect the
communication.
If the communication is not disconnected,
the communication charges may reach a high
level, depending on the price plan in your
contract.
Connect to the Internet

Slide the wireless switch to the
right.

Click
on the notification area,
click the Wireless Switch Utility
icon and then click [WiMAX ON].
If [WiMAX ON] and [WiMAX OFF] are grayed
•
and cannot be clicked, [Wireless LAN/
WiMAX] is set to [Disabled] in the [Advanced]
menu of the Setup Utility. Start the Setup
Utility and change this setting to [Enabled]
(the default setting is [Enabled]). (

CAUTION
Because WiMAX and the wireless LAN use the
•
same communication module, they cannot
be used at the same time. When WiMAX is
turned on, the wireless LAN is turned off
automatically, and when the wireless LAN is
turned on, WiMAX is turned off automatically.

Double-click
on the desktop.

(Start) - [All Programs] - [Intel PROSet Wireless]
- [WiMAX Connection Utility].

Confirm [On] in [WiMAX:] at
[Intel
®
PROSet/Wireless WiMAX
Connection Utility] and click
[Connect].
