Battery Power
For detailed information, refer to
Reference Manual
“ (Battery)”.
Operating Time
The battery operating time varies greatly depending
on how the computer is used and the usage
environment.
This computer uses the “JEITA Battery Run Time
Measurement Method (Ver. 1.0)” (henceforth called
“JEITA Measurement Method”) of the JEITA as a
measurement method that allows comparison with
other manufacturers.
CAUTION
The values based on the JEITA Measurement
Method that are used in this document and
other catalogs are measured when the power
consumption is minimized, for example by making
the screen darker. If the computer is used with a
brighter screen or with many applications running
at the same time, the battery operating time will be
shorter than the operating time derived from the
JEITA Measurement Method.
Measurement method for battery
operating times
The value measured using the JEITA Measurement
Method is the average of the battery operating time
measured with the following 2 methods.
Measured with a computer load (Measurement
•
Method a)
The internal LCD brightness is set to 20 cd/m
2
or
higher, and a specified video file (MPEG1 format)
is played back continuously by being read from
the hard disk.
Brightness setting method (set to 20 cd/m
2
or
higher)
1
Click
(Start) - [Control Panel] - [Hardware
and Sound] - [Change battery settings].
2
Click [Change plan settings] of the power
plan.
3
Click [Change advanced power settings] and
double-click [Display].
4
Double-click [Display brightness], set 20 % to
each item, and click [OK].
(Set to 20 cd/m
2
or higher by setting to 20 %.)
Measured without a computer load
•
(Measurement Method b)
The internal LCD brightness is set to the darkest
level and the computer is left alone with the
desktop screen displayed.
Method for setting the brightness to the darkest
level
1
Click
(Start) - [Control Panel] - [Hardware
and Sound] - [Change battery settings].
2
Click [Change plan settings] of the power
plan.
3
Click [Change advanced power settings] and
double-click [Display].
4
Double-click [Display brightness], set 0% to
each item, and click [OK].
For the detailed measurement methods, refer to
JEITA’s website (http://it.jeita.or.jp/mobile/).
To lengthen the operating time
The battery operating time can be lengthened with
the following operations.
Switch the power plan to [Panasonic Power
•
Management (Power Saving)].
Lowered performance saves power. The battery
operation time becomes longer.
Reduce the brightness of the internal LCD by
•
pressing
+
.
Turn the CD/DVD drive power off by using the
•
drive power/open switch.
Use Sleep/Hibernation
•
When you have to leave the computer, press
+
to set the computer to Sleep or
+
to set to Hibernation.
Turning off the display’s power automatically after
•
a certain period of time.
When the network communication is not working,
•
turn off the wireless using the wireless switch.
Disconnect external devices (USB devices, PC
•
cards, external mouse, etc.) that are not being
used.
Do not use software applications that place a
•
significant load on the CPU.
