Setting Words and Bits
The words and bits referenced in the PC have to be set.
S
Word/Bit:
In the case of numeral tables and character-string memory tables, specify the
lower word number of the referenced words. In the case of lamps, touch
switches, and bit memory tables, set the bit number to be allocated.
The entries in the parentheses on the right hand side are comments. Comments
can be input to provide information such as the purpose of use of the word or bit
(to input a comment, press the [F1] (Ref Inpt) key.
When specifying a DM are for a bit, append the bit number (00 to 15) at the end of
the DM number.
Timers (TIM) and counters (CNT) cannot be set in bits or the words of character-
strings.
Note
When using a SYSMAC BUS/2 interface unit, all the other bits in the same word as
a bit used for touch switch input notification are turned OFF.
Direct Input Method
To make entries in the allocated bit/word input field directly by key input, press the
key while the cursor is in the input field, input the bit or word number, then press
the
key again. If the number is input correctly it is confirmed. For details on the
input procedure, see “Character input” (p.54).
The following rules apply to bit and word input.
S
Even if lower case letters are input, the characters will be upper case.
S
If nothing is input, this will be interpreted as “no bit or word”.
S
Symbols that indicate the type of bit or word, such as “AR”, “LR”, and “DM”, are
correctly identified even if only the first character is input. However, in the case
of “CH” (I/O, internal relay area), correct identification is possible only when
nothing is input at the head.
S
Blanks (space) are ignored.
S
The zeros that precede a bit or word number can be omitted.
S
If the bit or word number exceeds the upper limit, a warning “pip” will sound and
the number will be changed to the maximum possible value.
