Basic Operations
S
Moving the cursor
There are various cursors, including a cross-hair cursor (intersecting vertical and
horizontal lines) used for drawing graphics and a box used for specifying the posi-
tion of character displays. These cursors can be moved either with the arrow keys
([ ][ ][ ][ ]) or with the mouse. Pressing one of the arrow keys while holding
down the [Shift] key gives larger motion increments (of 16 dots).
To fix a position, either press the
key or click the left mouse button.
S
Character input
Insert/overwrite:
The [Insert] key is used to select whether the insert or
overwrite mode is effective for character input.
: Insert mode
: Overwrite mode
Shifting the character cursor:
The character cursor can be moved to the left and right
with the [ ] and [ ] keys. Pressing the [ ] or [ ] key
while holding down the [Shift] key shifts the cursor to the
head or end of a character-string.
Character deletion:
An input character can be deleted by pressing the [Back
Space] key or the [Delete] key.
All characters being input can be deleted by pressing
the [CLR] key.
Mark input:
Pressing the [F3] (Mark) key on the character input
screen displays the mark list window. Select the mark
to be input with the cursor and press the
key.
S
Numeric value/character-string input
Numeric value/character-string clearance:
To clear an input numeric value or character-string dur-
ing numeric value/character-string input, press the
[Home] key.
S
Re-input into fields that have inputs
The following operations are possible, depending on the key that is pressed first
When the [INS], [BS], [DEL], [ ], or [ ] key is pressed first, the operation corre-
sponding to that key is performed while the existing data remains in the input field.
This saves having to input data again when making modifications.
When a key other than one of the above is pressed first, the input field is cleared as
the character corresponding to the pressed key is input. This makes it unneces-
sary to clear the existing data before inputting the new data.
