Changing a User Password
To change a user password:
1. At the main prompt, change the password for user
johndoe
to
oldguy
:
config users password johndoe
The following message appears:
Please enter the new password.
2. Enter the new password:
oldguy
Note:
Passwords are case-sensitive and appear as asterisks (
*
) on the screen
as you type them.
The following message appears:
Please confirm the new password.
3. Re-enter the new password.
oldguy
Note:
Passwords always appear in an encrypted format within the system.
There is no way to verify that the user password has been changed.
4. Save the configuration.
In this scenario, you will change the password for an existing user.
