When GPS is not approved for the selected final approach course, the message ‘NOT APPROVED
FOR GPS’ is displayed. GPS provides guidance to the approach, but the HSI must to be switched to a NAV
receiver to fly the final course of the approach.
Loading an approach into the active flight plan using the GDU Controller:
1)
Press the
PROC
Key. The Procedures Window is displayed.
2)
Highlight ‘SELECT APPROACH’.
3)
Press the
ENT
Key or the small
PFD
Knob. The Select Approach Window is displayed.
4)
Use the
PFD
Knob to select an airport and press the
ENT
Key or the small
PFD
Knob.
5)
Select an approach from the list and press the
ENT
Key or the small
PFD
Knob.
6)
Select a transition (if required) and press the
ENT
Key or the small
PFD
Knob.
7)
To set the minimums,:
a)
Use the small
PFD
Knob to select “BARO” (if required) and press the
ENT
Key or the small
PFD
Knob.
b)
Use the
PFD
Knob to select the barometric minimum altitude.
c)
Press the
ENT
Key or the small
PFD
Knob to accept the barometric minimum altitude.
Or:
a)
Use the small
PFD
Knob to select “TEMP COMP” and press the
ENT
Key or the small
PFD
Knob.
b)
Use the
PFD
Knob to select the barometric minimum altitude.
c)
Press the
ENT
Key or the small
PFD
Knob to accept the barometric minimum altitude.
d)
Use the
PFD
Knob to select the temperature.
e)
Press the
ENT

PFD
Knob to accept the compensation temperature. ‘LOAD?’ is highlighted.

Press the

Knob to load the approach procedure.
