Setting the Hostname
When you set a hostname for the FWSM, that name appears in the command-line prompt. If you
establish sessions to multiple devices, the hostname helps you keep track of where you enter commands.
When using failover, you can specify both a primary and secondary hostname.
Using both primary and secondary hostnames lets you use “tagged” logging. After enabling the
logging
device-hostname
command, all syslog messages will be tagged with either the primary or the secondary
hostname.
For example, within a context, you configure the primary hostname to be context-CTX1-primary and the
secondary hostname to be context-CTX1-secondary.
Primary-FWSM/4/act/CTX1(config)#
logging console debug
context-CTX1-primary
%FWSM-5-111008: User 'enable_15' executed the 'logging cons debug'
command.
For secondary/CTX1 which is in standby state below output will be seen.
Secondary-FWSM/4/act/CTX1(config)#
logging console debug
**** WARNING ****
Configuration Replication is NOT performed from Standby unit to Active unit.
Configurations are no longer synchronized.

debug' command.
