5 Operating the pump controller

5.3 Application modules
The pump controller can execute up to six applications simultaneously. To do this,
the pump controller provides up to six application modules in which predefined main
functions can be selected and executed. The predefined main functions are desig-
nated as primary functions. A primary function can be for example a pressure regu-
lation comprising two pumps.
The primary function assigned can be expanded with secondary functions. Secon-
dary functions are extension functions for an application.
Up to 6 application modules can be active at the same time. One application mod-
ule is able to control up to 6 pumps.
An application module contains the following components:
Component Description
Primary function
The main function of the application module, e.g. “Pressure
increase” (

section 5.4 Primary functions on page 100 ).
Secondary func-
tion
A function that is assigned to a primary function, e.g. “Offset
control” (

section 5.5 Secondary functions on page 157).
Secondary functions are optional and are used to expand
primary functions.
Pump The pump that is controlled with the aid of the application
module. Each pump can be assigned to just one application
module.
As soon as an application module is activated, it executes the corresponding pri-
mary and secondary functions in a cycle until it is deactivated.
