Parallel mode with redundancy pumps
The pump controller can be used to configure a redundancy pump for adjustment
mode or control mode for a pump group. This option must be pre-configured for the
application module by the manufacturer.
The pump controller cannot be used to configure a redundancy pump for cascade
mode. However, redundancy is possible if at least one more pump than required for
the conveyance tasks is integrated into the system.
If a pump fails in parallel mode, a redundancy pump of the same type can take over
the functions of the failed pump.
The pump that is used as the redundancy pump is not defined statically.
A redundancy pump is a role that every pump in a pump group gets cyclically as-
signed by the pump controller to be in stand-by mode. The pump in stand-by mode
acts as spare pump.
As long as at least one of the pumps is functional, the application module remains
active and attempts to complete the conveyance task.
The system owner must ensure that only pumps of the same type
are used in parallel mode with redundancy pumps.
This is the only way to ensure that the pumps will provide the
required performance.

Even mode with one pump group
You can set a pump group with a redundancy pump to even mode for adjustment
mode and control mode.
In even mode, the pump controller starts up the last inactive pump after a freely-
selectable operating period has elapsed and switches an active pump off at the
same time.
You can set both the length of operating time after which this changeover occurs
and the duration of the transition period during which the last inactive pump is
started up and an active pump is shut down.
Using this cyclical pump changeover, even mode ensures that the operating time of
all pumps in the pump group is the same and prevents long idle times, and there-
fore idle damage to the pumps.
