Configuration of PROFINET participants
Several steps are required in order to produce an operational PROFINET interface.
We recommend the following procedure:
1. Parameterisation and commissioning with the Festo Configuration Tool (FCT).
2. Perform the following settings on the “Fieldbus” page in the Festo Configuration Tool (FCT):
–
Network configuration (IP address/subnet screen/gateway address)
–
Assignment of PROFINET device name
–
Optional use of FPC and FHPP+ (FHPP+ Editor tab)
3. Incorporate the GSDML file in the project planning software

6.5.1
Parameterisation of the PROFINET interface
With the help of the Festo Configuration Tool (FCT), settings at the PROFINET interface can be read out
and configured. The aim is to configure the PROFINET interface via the Festo Configuration Tool (FCT) in
such a way that the EMCA can establish PROFINET communication with a PROFINET controller.
Note
The FCT settings are taken over into the permanent memory of the EMCA only after
“Download”, “Save” and “Restart controller”.
6.5.2
Setting the PROFINET-IP address
A unique IP address must be assigned to every device on the network.
The assigning of IP addresses that have already been used can lead to temporary over
loading of the network.
For manual assigning of a permitted IP address, it is advisable to contact the network
administrator.
Static address assignment
With the Festo Configuration Tool (FCT), the values for IP address, subnetwork mask and gateway ad
dress can be assigned on the “Fieldbus” page in the “Operating Parameters” tab.
