| Chapter 2: Installation
Waste System
Caution: High Flow Pump Installation.
DO NOT
plug the High
Flow vacuum pump cable into a wall outlet! Use the adapter
provided with the pump to connect the pump to the accessory
outlet on the back of the washer. See
Figure 12
for an illustration
of the vacuum pump accessory outlet and
Figure 13
for an
illustration of the connection of the cable to the outlet. (See also
the High Flow Pump Installation instructions, PN 7101049, included
in the package contents of your ELx405
washer.)
There is no regulator on the pump; therefore, if the pump is
plugged directly into a wall outlet, the pump will run continuously,
resulting in vacuum levels outside the specified range. This
requires the pump to draw a much higher current at setup in order
to operate, and may blow the auxiliary 5-amp fuse (PN 46055)
and/or produce arcing in the pump’s On/Off switch.
A
Vacuum Dissipation Delay
feature is available in the
Setup
utility that allows you to increase the delay, thereby preventing the
pump from drawing excess current and blowing the 5-amp fuse.
The delay should be set at 10 seconds or greater if using 10-liter
bottles, and 20 seconds if using 20-liter bottles. Refer to
Setup
Utilities
,
Vacuum Dissipation Delay
in
Chapter 3
,
Operation
.
Refer to
Figures 12
and
13
for the following instructions.
1. Attach the single vacuum tube to the vacuum port on the back of the
instrument and to the inlet port of the waste bottle.
2. Attach the waste sensor cable to the waste sensor port.
3.
Important
! Connect the vacuum pump to the vacuum pump accessory
outlet on the back of the washer (see
Caution
above). Use the
accessory outlet adapter provided.
4. Place the waste bottles and vacuum on the same surface as the washer
to ensure optimum performance.
Note:
To facilitate correct connection of the tubing to the waste bottles,
the waste tubes have green or yellow labels that correspond to the
green or yellow dots next to the inlet/outlet ports on the waste bottles.
