5. Measure:
• Brush length

Out of specification
→
Replace the starter
motor.
Brush length wear limit:
5.0 mm (0.20 in)
6. Measure:
• Brush spring pressure
Fatigue/out of specification
→
Replace as a
set.
7. Check:
• Bearings
• Oil seal
Damage/wear
→
Replace the defective
part(s).
Brush spring pressure:
7.36 ~ 11.04 N
(750 ~ 1,126 g, 26.5 ~ 39.7 oz)
Assembly
Reverse the “Disassembly” procedure.
Note the following points.
1. Before installing the front bracket and rear
bracket, apply bearing grease to the bearings of
the front bracket and rear bracket.
2. Install:
• Oil seal
• Lock washer
