SYSTEM CONTROL TASKS
Problem
Use this task before calling for service, when:
•
The system recognizes a problem that is not correctable and
directs you to key in the PROBLEM command
•
You are experiencing difficulties that you wish to report to
Service.
Prior to placing a service call, you should use the Problem
task to get the 6-digit dispatch code from the system.
Problem task through windows
1. Select “Problem” from the System Control menu.
You are switched to terminal emulation mode (TEM), that is,
the PC UI emulates a system controller terminal for the
duration of the Problem task. Once the Problem task is
complete, the desktop reappears.
2. Follow the procedure in the “Problem task through command
line” section, which follows.
Problem task through command line
1. Enter the following command:
PROBLEM
The following messages appear:
PROBLEM MXX PROBLEM ANALYSIS:RUNNING
WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING TYPES OF PROBLEMS DO YOU WISH TO
REPORT?
1. PRINT QUALITY PROBLEMS
2. FREQUENT JAMS
3. OUTPUT TRAY PROBLEMS
4. PAPER TRAY PROBLEMS
5. TAPE PROBLEMS
6. OTHER SYSTEM PROBLEMS
7. NO OTHER SYSTEM PROBLEMS
INDICATE SELECTION BY ENTERING NUMBER
2. Select one of the above options.
When you select options 1, 3, 4, or 5, messages appear
requesting more detail about the problem you are reporting.
Next, or after selecting option 2, the following messages
appear:
PROBLEM ANALYSIS RESULTS<MDSH>DISPATCH CODES
(DISPATCH CODE AND MESSAGE)
1. TO REPORT ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS.
2. NO MORE PROBLEMS TO REPORT.
INDICATE SELECTION BY ENTERING NUMBER

If you select option 1, you are returned to the previous
problem menu.
