Converting a console log
1. Follow the procedure described in step 1, a-b, of the
“Displaying a console log” section earlier in this chapter.
2. Select the “Convert” option from the Console Log window's
header auxiliary menu to open the Convert window.

3. Enter an ID for the converted file in the Save converted
Console Log as field.
Notes:
•
The ID can be up to twelve characters—eight characters
for the name and three for the extension, including a
period.
•
You cannot enter a path name (directory).
•
The name cannot be the same as the console log file
name.
4. Select the format for the converted console log from the
Format field's auxiliary menu.
Note: In conversion to EBCDIC, any multinational characters
in the console log are lost.
5. Select Overwrite if you want any other destination files with
the same name to be overwritten.
6. Select either:
•
Apply/Close. Apply your selection and close the Convert
window.
•
Close. Close the window.
Notes:
•
The converted console log is stored on the PC UI hard disk.
•
You can copy the converted console log to a PC UI floppy
disk with the MS-DOS BACKUP command.
