Install DIMMs

Before you begin, see

“DIMM Population Rules” on page 134

for information about DIMM

configuration guidelines.

Caution -

Ensure that all power is removed from the server before installing DIMMs or damage

to the DIMMs might occur. You must disconnect all power cables from the system before

performing this procedure.

Unpack the new or replacement DIMMs and place them on an antistatic mat.

If you are replacing faulty DIMMs, ensure that the replacement DIMMs match the

sizes of the DIMMs they are replacing.

Do not replace a dual-rank DIMM with a quad-rank DIMM and vice versa. If you violate this

rule, the performance of the server might be adversely affected. For DIMM population rules,

see

“DIMM Population Rules” on page 134

Ensure that the ejector tabs are in the open position.

Line up the DIMM with the motherboard connector.
