Upgrading Your Workstation 9-29

Removal

Take the following steps to remove a DIMM:

NOTES:

To remove the failed DIMM, check the error message appearing in
POST or NEC ESMPRO to identify the DIMM socket in which the
failing DIMM is installed.

The workstation needs at least one DIMM installed to operate.

1.

See the section "Preparing for Installation and Removal" described earlier to prepare.

2.

Remove the PCI board from PCI board slot #1. See "PCI Board" described earlier.

The PCI board installed in the slot that accepts PCI Express interface (PCI #1) is locked.
Remove the board from this slot while pulling the cable tie mounted on the slot eject
lever.

IMPORTANT:

If the graphics accelerator has a width equivalent to

width of two PCI slots, remove the board while pushing the lock of PCI
Express slot from the other side.
