
Troubleshooting 8-9
Fail to access to internal or external devices (or such devices fail to operate):
Are cables properly connected?

Make sure that the interface cables and power cord are properly connected. Also
make sure that the cables are connected in the correct order.
Is the power-on order correct?
→
When the workstation has any external devices connected, power on the external
devices first, then the workstation.
Did you install drivers for connected optional devices?
→
Some optional devices require specific device drivers. Refer to the manual that
comes with the device to install its driver.
Is BIOS configuration correct?
→
Some devices connected to the serial or parallel port may require I/O port address
or operation mode settings. Refer to the manual that comes with the board for
details to make correct settings.

Is the jumper switch set correctly?

Some devices require jumper switch setting. Refer to the manual that comes with
the device for jumper switch setting.
The keyboard or mouse fails to operate:
Is the cable properly connected?
→
Make sure that the cable is connected to the correct connector on the rear of the
workstation.
→
The keyboard or mouse does not operate if it is connected when the workstation is
powered (not applicable to USB devices). Power of the workstation first and
connect it properly.
Are the workstation drivers installed?
→
Refer to the manual that comes with your OS to check that the keyboard and
mouse drivers are installed. (These drivers are installed along with the OS.)
Some OS's allow you to change the keyboard and mouse settings. Refer to manual
that comes with your OS to check that the keyboard and mouse settings are
correct.
