
1-10 Notes on Using Your Workstation
FOR PROPER OPERATION
Observe the following notes for successful operation of the workstation. Use of the workstation
ignoring the notes will cause malfunctions or failures of the workstation.
The power of workstation may be turned off and then on automatically at the first reboot
after the parameter of BIOS SETUP was changed.
Install the workstation in a place that meets requirements for successful operation. For
details, see Chapter 3, "Setting Up Your Workstation."
Make sure to power off the workstation and unplug the power cord before connecting or
disconnecting cables between the workstation and peripheral devices.
Verify that the access lamp on the workstation is unlit before turning off the workstation.
When you have just turned off the workstation, wait at least 10 seconds before turning it
back on.
Turn off the power and unplug the power cord from the outlet before relocating the
workstation.
To play an audio CD with the factory-installed optical disk drive, use the digital play
function or the Windows Media Player.
Clean the workstation on a regular basis. (See Chapter 7 for cleaning.) Regular cleaning
proactively prevents various failures of the workstation.
Lightning may cause a momentary voltage drop. To prevent this problem, it is
recommended to use of an uninterruptible power supply unit.
For the disk which does not conform to the CD standard, the playback of such a disk with
the CD drive is not guaranteed.
Powering off the workstation by pressing the POWER switch for several seconds on the
screen other than OS (POST, BIOS SETUP, or DOS) may restart the workstation.
The onboard graphics accelerator and an optional graphics accelerator are mutually
exclusive.
If you installed the optional graphics accelerator board, install the display driver according
to the manual provided with the graphics accelerator board.
Check and adjust the system clock before the operation if any of the following conditions
is applicable.

After carriage of device

After storage of device
–
After the device is entered into the pause state under the environmental condition
enduring device operation (temperature: 10°C - 35°C, humidity: 20% - 80%)
Check the system clock at the rough rate of once per month. When the system clock is
installed in a system requiring high time precision, it is recommended to use a time server
(NTP server).
If the system clock is remarkably delayed or advanced as the passage of time in spite of
adjustment, contact your service representative to ask maintenance.
