The Mirrors page appears.
3. Right-click on the machine shown as the master repository, and choose
Add Mirror
.
The Repository Setup dialog box appears.
4. Click the
Machine
browse button (
...
), and select the machine in the
non-trusted domain that you want to manage.
5. Click
OK
.
The Login dialog box appears.
6. Enter a username and password that has Administrator rights on the
machine in the non-trusted domain.
The Assign User Rights dialog box appears.
7. Select the users and groups to which you want to assign rights, and then
click
Yes
.
An Update message appears.
8. Click
Yes
.
If you have an IPC$ connection to the target machine, and your username
and password on the non-trusted domain are different than those on
your Management Console machine, you must break the connection and
reconnect to the remote domain.
9. Right-click the name of the machine, and choose
Login to Server
, once
rights have been established. This lets you login and remotely update a
machine in a non-trusted domain.
Changing the Management Server
If you promote another machine to Management Server status, the current
Management Server is automatically demoted.
Demoting, or removing, a Management Server automatically removes those
services that are only installed on a Management Server. These are the
Management Edition Scheduler, Response Manager, Update Manager, and
Name Provider. As part of the removal of the Name Provider, the database is
also deleted from the Management Server.
