8. Installation
8.1. References to the Arrangement of the GPSeye IN1
The installation of the GPSeye IN1 is in principle to be carried out in the vehicle. However,
to carry out a concealed installation of the connecting cable directly on steady plus of
the vehicle power supply, what is
recommended
, a certain additional effort for the
removal/re-installation of parts of the mounting enclosure is necessary.
Please refer to the following installation notes:
• Connect the GPSeye IN1 professionally to a voltage of 12-24V
steady plus only
.
Do not use any cable clamps (so called “slacker”) in order to ensure an optimal
connection. Please make sure that the connection is protected (max. 5A-fuse).
Please consider that with some motor vehicle types the vehicle power supply com-
pletely switches into a sleep mode after a certain time so that no voltage will be there
anymore. That can lead to data loss and/or to higher costs for the communication
connections of your locating solution. Please make sure that the GPSeye IN1 is
always connected to the vehicle power supply, for example through routing a cable
as an autonomous direct connection to the battery of the vehicle (steady plus).
The connection to “Ignition” of the vehicle is not to be recommended since it can
result in data loss after removing the ignition key. Costs might also increase by
increased system correspondence.
