16. GPS Explorer Local Edition

16.2. Installation Tasks

16.2.1. Route Planner

At last you need a GPS-capable route planner. If not done yet, you should install the

map software or compatible map software like Google Earth now. With a route planner

configure the program on a GPS-signal on the interface COM4.

A list of supported route planners can be found in section „

20.3 Supported Route Planners

taken for the correctness of the details provided.
Refer to the documentation of your route planner for its installation and configuration.

The installation of the GPS Explorer is now completed and you can start the program.

16.2.2. Initial Start

To start the GPS Explorer, click the desktop icon twice. Wait until GPS Explorer user

interface appears on your desktop.

At first, GPS Explorer checks whether there is an updated version of the program available

in the Internet. If this is the case, the following message appears:

The GPS Explorer is continuously improved which also results in updates for the users.

The updates are free of charge for users of the mobile services GPSoverIP and DATAoverIP.
We generally recommend always working with the newest version to enjoy advanced

functions. The GPS Explorer is very slim and can be downloaded in a little while.
If the GPS Explorer should not check for a new version, enable the option

Do not ask

again in future

. Then you will not be prompted to download anymore. If necessary you

have to download the new version of the GPS Explorer manually.
