Online Operation

Revert
When the Revert parameter is enabled, the ISX 5312/5314 automatically terminates the
dial backup connection and returns communication to the DS1 line via DTE 1 when the
DS1 line has been in a good state for the amount of time selected under the Disconnect
Timer parameter. When this parameter is disabled, the ISX 5312/5314 does not
automatically terminate the dial backup connection and return communication to the
DS1 line.
Source Address
The Source Address parameter allows you to specify the address that is sent with the
heartbeat message to identify the heartbeat source. This parameter is not available when
the LRC parameter is disabled. The available options are
000
through
255
. The Source
Address is assigned in conjunction with the T7 address (ID). The following example,
showing how to assign source addresses, uses the T7 IDs provided in Figure 1-11.
Example:
Central Unit - T7 ID = 2
Remote unit on DTE 2 - T7 ID = 7
Remote unit on DTE 4 - T7 ID = 12
Set the source addresses as follows:
• Set the central unit’s source address to the T7 ID of the remote unit connected to
the dial backup path (source address = 7 for DTE 2; 12 for DTE 4).
• Set the source address of the remote unit connected to DTE port 2 to the central
unit’s T7 ID (source address = 2 for DTE 2).
• Set the source address of the remote unit connected to DTE port 4 to the central
unit’s T7 ID (source address = 2 for DTE 2).
Clock Source During Dial Backup
When dial backup operation is initiated, the ISX 5312/5314 automatically switches its
clock source to external on DTE 2 (ISX 5312) or DTE 2 and DTE 4 (ISX 5314). The
external dial backup device(s) attached to DTE 2/DTE 4 must be able to supply clock to
the ISX 5312/5314. (See Figure 5-1.)
