Defining Operating Parameters

New Software Submenu

The New Software submenu allows you to download the local or remote ISX
5312/5314’s software from a PC loaded with a communications software program.  The
ISX 5312/5314 is compatible with most standard communications software programs
such as PC+

®

, as well as most public-domain or shareware software such as

QMODEM

®

.

Notes:

  As long as the unit is not reset during this operation, data continues to flow

through the ISX 5312/5314.  However, no other operation can be performed.

Do NOT select this option when using the ISX Download Program DL5300.exe.

Detailed instructions about downloading software are provided under separate cover
when you receive new code.  Using the ISX 5314 as an example, the following
instructions are provided to give you an idea of how the download kernel works:

1. Start your communications software program.

2. Set the communications software program to 2400 bps.

3. From the ISX 5314’s front panel, press the buttons beneath

Local/Confg/NewSw/Yes

.

4. The ISX 5314’s screen prompts you to enter the security code.  When the

ISX 5314 is shipped from the factory, the predefined security code is 

CSU

.

Enter the predefined code unless you changed it under the Security submenu.  If
you changed it, enter the current code.

5. If the baud rate is set for 2400 bps, the PC screen displays the prompt 

ISX

5314>

.  If the setting is incorrect, the screen displays garbage or nothing.  If you

are downloading software to the remote unit, the baud rate must remain at 2400
bps.  If you are downloading software to the local unit, you may now change the
baud rate if desired.  The available options are:

To change the baud rate, type the letters shown in bold.  Angle brackets (

< >

)

indicate that you choose the text to enter based on the description inside the
