Connecting to External Dial Backup Device
The connector labeled
Port 2
on the ISX 5312, and the connectors labeled
Port 2
and
Port 4
on the ISX 5314 can be used to connect to an external dial backup device. A
crossover cable is required to make this connection. The correct cable to use depends on
the type of external dial backup device to which you are connecting the ISX 5312/5314.
When connecting to a BRI 2000, use adapter cable part no. 5956-879G (26-pin micro
male to 34-pin female). Plug the male end of the cable into the ISX 5312/5314. Plug the
female end into the crossover cable part no. 5956-744E (26-pin micro male to 34-pin
male) connected to the BRI 2000. (Both cables can be ordered from Milgo.)
Connecting to NMI Port for T7 Network Management
The Excalibur ISX 5312/5314 provides a 10-pin jack labeled
NMI
for connecting to a
CMS 400 for T7 network management. Use Cable Part No. 5956-158V, which has a 10-
pin plug at one end and a 6-pin plug at the other end to make this connection. (This
cable must be ordered from Milgo.) Table 2-3 lists the pin and signal assignments for
the T7 network management system connector.
