Setting Switches (Central Site Model Only)
The front edge of the central site model p.c. card (see Figure 2-2) has a switchbank
containing four switches. Switches 1 and 2 specify the NMI port operating mode and the
chassis type as follows:

Switch 1 On (Down) - The NMI port operates in Console Port mode. Use this
setting if you want to use Console protocol to configure and control the ISX 5314
from a connected ASCII terminal. See “Using Console Port Interface” in Chapter
3 for instructions.
This setting applies only if switch 2 is set On (ISX 5010 chassis mode). If switch
2 is set Off, this setting is ignored, and the NMI port mode is determined by the
Protocol parameter. (See the “Network Management System” section in Chapter 4
for more information.)

Switch 1 Off (Up) - The NMI port operates in Network Management mode. Use
this setting if you want to use PPP, SLIP, or T7 protocol to configure and control
the ISX 5314 from an SNMP manager, CMS 400, or Telnet. (To select the
protocol, set the Protocol parameter as described in Chapter 4 in the “Network
Management System” section.) (Default)
•
Switch 2 On (Down) - Select this setting if the unit is housed in an ISX 5010
chassis.
•
Switch 2 Off (Up) - Select this setting if the unit is housed in an Excalibur Card
Carrier. (Default)
Switches 3 and 4 on the switchbank are not used.
