Table 5-1. ISX 5312/5314 Error Statistics
(Continued)
Statistic
Definition
Controlled Slip
Second (CSS)
A CSS is a second with one or more Controlled Slips
(CSs).
Controlled Slip (CS):
A CS is the occurrence of a
replication or deletion of a DS1 frame by the
receiving terminal.
Frame Bit Error*
(FBE)
An FBE occurs when the ISX 5312/5314 determines
that a framing bit being received from the network
interface is in error.
Change of Frame
Alignment* (COFA)
A COFA occurs when the ISX 5312/5314 loses the
framing on the incoming signal. The unit then
initiates a search for the framing pattern and, when
found, resyncs on the framing pattern.
Bipolar Violation*
(BPV)
A BPV is the occurrence of two consecutive pulses of
the same polarity.
* Statistics provided by the ISX 5312/5314 that are not required by any technical
specification.
Network Receive Register
The Network Receive register contains statistics derived from the incoming 1-second
performance report generated by ANSI compatible units. The ISX 5312/5314 transmits
data to the far-end unit, which monitors for errors and collects statistical information.
This information is reported to the originating unit by the far-end unit via the 1-second
performance report. (Refer to ANSI T1.403 - 1989.) The following error statistics are
reported:
•
ES
- Errored Seconds
•
CSS
- Controlled Slip Seconds
•
SES
- Severely Errored Seconds
•
BES
- Bursty Errored Seconds
