Excalibur ISX 5312/5314 T-1 Multiplexer Installation and Operation
4-24
• The Remote T7 parameter must be set to Disabled on all DTEs. If this parameter
is enabled on any DTE and you attempt to enable SLIP, PPP, or Ethernet, the
screen displays the message:
N/A - T7 enabled on DTE
.
• A DS0 channel cannot be assigned for remote T7 on either DS1 line. If a channel
has been assigned on DS1a or DS1b, and you attempt to enable SLIP, PPP, or
Ethernet, the screen displays the message:
N/A - T7 enabled on DS1
.
Speed
The Speed parameter specifies the Console, T7, SLIP, or PPP channel rate. When the
Protocol parameter is set to Console, the available options are
75
,
300
,
1200
,
2400
,
4800
,
9600
,
19200
,
38400
,
57600
bps, and
115k
(115.2 Kbps actual rate), and
Auto
(Autobaud). The Autobaud option appears on the screen only when the Protocol
parameter is set to Console. When the Protocol parameter is set to PPP or SLIP, the ISX
5312/5314 does not allow you to select the
75
,
300
, or
1200
bps channel rates. For PPP
and SLIP protocols, the available options are
2400
,
4800
,
9600
,
19200
,
38400
,
57600
bps, and
115k
(115.2 Kbps actual rate). The default rate is 19.2 Kbps.
The Autobaud feature allows the ISX 5312/5314 to automatically determine the terminal
baud rate and set the serial port to operate at the same rate. It supports 300, 1200, 2400,
4800, 9600 bps, and 14.4, 19.2, 28.8, 38.4, 57.6, 115.2 Kbps baud rates.
The Autobaud feature is disabled when the Protocol parameter is changed from Console
to another protocol (T7, SLIP, PPP, or Ethernet). The ISX 5312/5314 reverts to the 19.2
Kbps default baud rate.
NTS
The NTS parameter specifies the network terminal server connection. The available
options are
Std
(Standard) and
INX
(Milgo INX-NTS). Select
INX
when the
ISX 5312/5314 is connected to an INX-NTS. Select
Std
when the ISX 5312/5314 is
connected to any other device.
T7 Via Dial Modems
The ISX 5312/5314 supports the applications shown in Figures 4-1 through 4-4 when
transporting T7 data via dial modems. You can use Milgo’s ALM 3226 modem or a
generic modem that supports Hayes AT operation.
