and apply to both the so ile d and the area surrounding
sam e, using a light, b risk motion.
6. Repeat brushing operation.
7. If a cleaning rin g should form , the en tire area of the
assem bly which is being cleaned should be thoroughly
brushed and gone o v e r ligh tly with the solvent.
C O N V E N T IO N A L CAB
Seat Replacem ent
NOTE:
Seat with slid e adjusters and seat back
can be rem oved as a unit.
1. R em ove four cap screw s and w ashers which attach
each seat to cab flo o r.
2. T ilt seat back forw ard ; then lift seat assem bly fro m
cab.
3. Seat adjuster can be rem oved fro m seat a fter disen
gaging end of seat return spring and locking rem ove
rod and fou r cap s c rew s and w ashers attaching ad
ju sters to seat.
4. In stall seat adjusters to seat fin g e r tight with eight
attaching cap s c re w s and w ashers.
Adjustment
Seat is p rovid ed with two adjustments. A le v e r at le ft
o f cab fo r positioning seat " F o r e " o r " A f t . ” Push down
on le v e r to disengage seat position lock. The re le a s e
action of righ t hand adjuster lock may be adjusted by
kinking the locking rod„
NOTE:
A minimum clearan ce of 7/16” should
exist between the seat back and gas tank.

Rear Seats
1. R em ove bolts attaching seat to flo o r and rem ove seat.
2. If not im m ed iately re in sta llin g the seat, re in s ta ll
the bolts that attach the seat to the flo o r.

Torsion Bar Adjustm ent
The ratcheting adjuster le v e r (C, fig u re 57) regulates
the amount of w eight the seat w ill support. P ro p e r ad
justment places the up and down tra v e l of the seat sus
pension of the midpoint, lim itin g the occu rren ce of
bottom ing o r topping of the suspension.
P r o p e r adjustment is indicated by the rid e le v e l indi
ca tor,
F igu re 58, which is located behind le ft fram e
upright. P osition 3 in F igu re 58 indicates c o r r e c t adjust
ment (tip just flush with fo rw a rd edge of upright). If seat
is too stiff, the indicator w ill be in position 1; i f too soft,
in position 2. Adjust fo r position 3 by m oving le v e r C,
F igu re 57. D irection of ratcheting action may be changed
by m oving control at base of le v e r . Turning le v e r clock
w ise in crea ses the amount of weight the seat w ill support.

Torsion Bar
Removal
1. W edge upper seat in top position by using wood shim
under tube located under fron t of seat cushion o r by
shim under tube located below back cushion.
2. Rem ove p reload on torsion bars by rotating adjuster
le v e r assem bly (No. 30) cou n ter-clock w ise until ad
ju ster assem bly is disengaged fro m seat.
3. Disengage back cushion fro m seat assem bly by r e
m oving bolts and lock w ashers (N os. 52 and 47).
4. D isengage seat cushion fro m assem bly by rem oving
nuts, lock w ashers and w ashers (N os. 48, 47 and 46).
M ove seat cushion fo rw a rd to fr e e rubber r o lle r s
(No. 45) fro m housing under seat cushion.
5. Rem ove right hand side panel assem bly (No. 29) by
tapping out sideways. Th is allow s yoke (No. 26) to
drop fr e e (fig s . 59 and 60).
6. R em ove torsion bar set (No. 27) fro m tube.
LEVEL RIDE
Adjustm ent
T o get fu ll benefit fro m the optional le v e l rid e seat,
p ro p er adjustment is of p rim a ry im portance.
Back Rest Adjustm ent
T o adjust back rest angle d ep ress top of seat back and
m ove to d e s ire d position.
Fore and A ft Adjustm ent
Any point within the 4” tr a v e l may be s elected by m ov
Installation
1. In sert torsion bar set (No. 27) in tube being sure that
bars a re engaged in reta in er (No. 25) inside tube at
le ft hand side of seat.
2. Replace righ t hand side panel assem bly (No. 29) with
yoke (No. 26) held in position inside housing on side
panel. Engage yoke (No. 26) on fr e e end of torsion
bar set (No. 27).
3. Lin e up side panels right hand and le ft hand retaining
the 20” dim ension o v e r side panels.
4. R eassem ble seat cushion m oving fro m fron t of seat
tow ard re a r in o rd er to engage rubber r o lle r s (No.
45) p ro p e rly in housing under seat cushion.
5. R eassem ble back cushion.
6. R eplace p reload adjuster assem bly being sure that
Nos. 38 through 41 a re in th eir p ro p er positions.
