A ll openings that allow dust leaks w ill also p rovid e
w ater leaks. When checking fo r w ater leaks a helper
should be used on the inside of the cab or body to locate
the entrance of w ater, w hile it is applied on the outside.
NOTE:
W a ter does not always enter the cab
o r body in the location w here leaks show up,

th erefo re, back-trackin g the path of w ater w ill
show the true entrance of the leak.
FRONT END
WINDSHIELD GLASS
The windshield is a on e-p iece type and is retained in
the w indshield opening by a moulded rubber w eather
strip .
Th is w eath erstrip is sealed in the windshield
opening and sealed to the w indshield glass.
When rep lacin g a cracked w indshield glass, it is v e ry
im portant that the cause of the glass breakage to d e te r
mined and the condition c o rre c te d b e fo re a new glass is
installed. O therw ise, it is highly p ossib le that a sm all
obstruction o r high spot som ew here around the wind
shield opening w ill continue to crack o r break the newly
in stalled windshield esp ecia lly when the strain on the
gla ss caused by this obstruction is in creased by such
conditions as wind p ressu res, ex trem es of tem perature,
m otion of the veh icle, etc.
The procedu re fo r rem o va l of the windshield applies
to the com plete windshield assem bly.
Removal
1. B efo re rem ovin g the windshield, m ark the location
of the break on the windshield rubber channel and
the body. P ro te c t the paint fin ish inside of the cab.
Mask around the windshield opening and outside,
lay a suitable coverin g a cro ss the hood and fenders.
NOTE:
The windshield glass rubber w eather
strip is one p iece. The glass is held in a chan
nel within the w eath erstrip (fig . 8).
2. Do not tr y to rem ove re v e a l mouldings while wind
sh ield is in body opening.
