sh ifter shafts. On new p ro c e s s m odels, rem o ve shift
le v e r rod from shift r a il link.
6. R em ove tra n sfer case to fra m e mounting bracket
bolts.
7. Support tra n sfer case and rem ove bolts attaching
tra n s fe r case to tran sm ission adapter.
8. M ove tra n sfer case to re a r until input shaft cle a rs
adapter and lo w er assem bly fro m veh icle.
Installation
1. Support tra n sfer case in suitable stand and position
case to transm ission adapter. Install bolts attaching
case to adapter and torque to 45 ft. lbs.
2. R em ove stand as requ ired and install bolts attaching
tra n s fe r case to fram e r a il. Bend tabs a fter
assem bly.
3. Install c le v is pins to connecting links between trans­
fe r case and control adapter sh ifter shafts. On new
p ro cess model, in stall connecting rod to shift r a il
link.
4. Connect front prop shaft to tra n sfer case front output
shaft. Torque bolts 17 ft. lbs.
5. Connect re a r prop shaft to tra n s fe r case re a r output
shaft. Torqu e bolts 17 ft. lbs.
6. Connect speedom eter cable, back-up lamp and TCS
switch.
7. F ill tra n sfer case to prop er le v e l with lubricant
s p ecified in the lubricant section o f the Tru ck Chas­
sis S ervice Manual.
8. L o w e r and rem ove veh icle fro m hoist.
CA U TIO N :
Check and tighten all bolts to sp e c i­
fied torques.
NOTE: B efo re connecting prop shafts to com ­
panion flanges be sure locknuts a re torqued 250
