Rem oval
1. R em ove windshield w ip e r arm s and cow l g r ille .
2. D rain ra d ia tor and rem o ve rad iator hoses.
3. D isconnect tran sm ission c o o le r lines; and disconnect
a ir
clea n er intake hose at fen d er sk irt, if so
equipped.
4. Disconnect w ire connectors at dash and toe panel.
D isconnect the battery, gen erator and regu la tor w ire
leads.
5. D isconnect pow er s te e rin g flu id r e s e r v o ir fro m in
side g r ille .
6. R em ove fron t bum per bolts and rem o ve bumper,
a. R em ove two bolts fro m underneath fron t fra m e
c ro ssm em b er and attachments secu rin g sheet
m etal. (See F igu re 12.)
7. R em ove one screw , each side attaching cow l bracket
to fen d er (p lastic plug c o v e rs ) access fro m inside
cab, on cow l (fig . 13). DO N O T rem ove cow l bracket.
8. R em ove two bolts attaching fender upper edge to
plenum and hinge p illa r (fig . 13).
9. Tape shim s in th e ir res p e c tiv e positions fo r re a s
sem bly ease.
10. Rem ove two s c re w s (each sid e) attaching fender gus
set to cow l (fig . 14).
11. W orkin g fro m underneath r e a r o f fen d er, rem ove
bolts which attach each fen der s k irt to the fender
extension flange.
12. R em ove two bolts fro m rad iator support mount.
13. R em ove bolt attaching each fen d er s k irt to cab s ill
extension.
14. W ith a helper, rem ove fron t sheet m etal assem bly
with ra d iator, battery, horn and voltage regu lator.
Installation
1. Tape w ashers and cushions to fra m e and fen der
brackets with masking tape.
NOTE:
If sheet m etal mounting cushions on
fra m e brackets a re worn o r d eteriorated , r e
place b e fo re in stallin g fron t sheet m etal.
2. W ith a h elper place sheet m etal assem bly in position.
NOTE:
In stall a ll bolts lo o s e ly to fa c ilita te
alignm ent a fte r com plete installation.
3. In stall two bolts and shim s requ ired at each fen der
re a r upper edge.
4. In stall combination bolt and fla t w asher assem bly
into each cow l bracket to fen der.
5. Tighten the sheet m etal mounting bolt 35 to 55 ft. lbs.
torque. (See F igu re 12.)
6. In stall spacer, w asher and bolt in each fen d er sk irt
to cab s ill extension.
7.
In s ta ll s k ir t attach in g b o lts to fe n d e r e x ten sio n .
8. Tighten a ll bolts.
9. In stall fron t bumper bolts and bumper as outlined in
this section.
10. Connect upper and lo w e r ra d ia tor hoses.
11. Install tran sm ission c o o le r lines.
12. Connect p ow er steerin g flu id r e s e r v o ir hose to pump.
See Section 9.
13. Connect a ir clea n er intake hose to fen d er skirt.
14. Connect w ire connectors at dash and toe panel. Con
nect battery, gen erator and regu la tor leads.
15. F ill rad iator, start engine and check fo r leaks.
