Type “ F”
1. In sert piston spring, cup fille r , and cup into cylin d er
b o re. Cup f i lle r bumper and cup lip must face closed
end o f cylin d er.
2. A ssem b le boot on piston, making sure the boot snaps
o v e r the brake shoe guide.
3. In stall piston and boot, in sertin g piston into cylin d er
and engaging boot lip in g ro o ve in edge o f cylin d er.
Position brake shoe guide so slot in guide is p a ra lle l
with fla t mounting su rface o f cylin der.
Type “ FR-3”
1. Install pistons, piston cups, and spring, with cup lips
toward inside o f cylin der.
2. A ssem b le push rods and boots, then in sta ll on c y lin ­
der. Seat boots even ly in cylin d er grooves.
Installation
Duo-Servo Type
1. P osition wheel cylin d er on flange plate and attach
with cap s crew and lock w ashers. R e fe r to torque
sp ecifica tion s at r e a r o f manual fo r c o r r e c t torque
values.
2. When brake line connector is used, in stall connector
with new copper gasket. Install b leed er va lve in
upper opening in cy lin d er housing.
3. A t re a r, connect m etal brake tube to wheel cylin der
o r to connector. A t fron t, thread brake hose fitting
into wheel cylin d er housing o r connector, using a
new copper gasket on hose fittin g. In sert fittin g at
other end o f hose through fra m e and secu re with
toothed lock washer and nut o r with sprin g lock,
depending upon type used. Connect m etal brake tube
to hose fittin g inside fram e side ra il.
4. Install brake shoes as d irected under “ Brake Shoe
In stallation .” B leed brake system as p reviou sly
d irected under “ Bleeding B ra k e s .”

NOTE: Upper and lo w er cylin d ers a re not in ­
terchangeable. L o w er cylin d er has two threaded
