Two sw itches, connected in p a ra lle l, control the s ta r t
ing, stopping and parking o f the Type “ E ” w ip er m otor.
The manually operated start, stop switch is located on the
instrum ent panel, while the cam operated park switch is
located in the w ip er gear box.
SERVICE OPERATIONS
WIPER M O T O R
REMOVAL A N D INSTALLATION
1 0 - 6 0 .C onventional Cab M odels (Fig. 18)
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Rem ove w ip er arm s and blades fro m tran sm ission
shaft.
3. R em ove plenum cham ber g r ille .
4. Disconnect w ip er d riv e rods fro m crank arm ; r e
m ove crank arm nut and arm fro m m otor shaft.
5. W orking under instrum ent console, disconnect w ip er
m otor and w asher w irin g connectors.
NOTE:
If veh icle is equipped with a parking
brake assem b ly located on the v e r tic a l surface
o f the cow l front panel (d ire c tly below the w iper
m otor, rem ove the parking brake assem bly at
taching bolts (4) to allow shifting o f the assem bly
rea rw a rd s in o rd e r to p rovid e access fo r r e
m oval
and
in stallation
o f the w ip er m otor
assem bly.
Disconnect and rem o ve left-hand d e fro s te r hose.
6. Disconnect w asher hoses fro m w asher pump.
7. Rem ove m otor attaching s c rew s and m otor fro m cowl
mounting position.
8. To in stall, r e v e r s e rem ova l p rocedu re.
NOTE:
Make certain w iper
a re in the “ P a r k ” position.

NOTE:
Two separate m otors a re used to pow er
the w ip ers, one switch con trollin g both. F igu re
19 is an exploded view o f the le ft hand w ip er a s
sem bly installation.
Right hand assem bly is
identical, how ever, it w ill be n ecessa ry to r e
m ove heater co v e r assem bly b e fo re w ip er m otor
may be s e rviced .
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Rem ove nut retaining w ip er on to shaft.
3. Pu ll arm , knurled d r iv e r and rain shield fro m shaft.
4. R em ove nut retaining shaft fe rru le to body outer
panel; rem ove washers.
5. F rom inside veh icle, rem ove four screw s retaining
m otor assem bly to dash and rem ove assem bly from
veh icle.
6. To in stall, re v e r s e rem oval procedu re.
