COW L AIR VENTILATOR VALVE ASSEMBLY
Replacem ent
E n tire outlet va lve assem b ly may be rem oved fro m
the v e h icle by rem ovin g two screw s and dep ress the
pins. R e fe r to F igu re 20. A ls o r e fe r to F igu re 20 fo r
d isassem b ly of the fla t fa ce cow l a ir ven tila to r assem bly.
WINDSHIELD WIPERS
W indshield w iper units on a ll m odels a re o f the two-
speed e le c tr ic type. A sin gle w ip er m otor unit, mounted
to cen ter o f cowl inside cab, pow er both w ip er blades.
The w ip er blade operating link rods and pivot mountings
on these m odels are located in the outside a ir inlet
plenum cham ber.
Arm Adjustm ent
T o adjust sweep of blades to p ro vid e maximum v is i
b ility , turn on w ip ers, then note sweep of arm s. If
n ecessa ry, rem ove one o r both arm s as fo llo w s: Pu ll
outer end of arm away fro m glass which w ill trip lock
sp rin g at base of arm and re le a s e sprin g fro m undercut
of p ivot shaft. W hile holding arm in this position, pull
outward on cap section at base of arm to rem o ve arm .
A rm can be rein sta lled in any one of s e v e r a l positions
due to serra tio n s on p ivot shaft and in arm cap (fig . 22).

Removal
1. R em ove windshield w ip er arm s fro m p ivot shafts.
P roced u re fo r rem ovin g arm s is explained p r e v i
ously under " A r m Adjustm ents.”
2. R em ove screw s which attach outside a ir cow l ven ti
la to r g r ille to cowl. C a refu lly rem ove g r ille fo rw a rd
fro m cowl.
3. A t cen ter of cowl, rem ove reta in er (fig . 19) which
attaches each link rod to m otor d riv e linkage and
arm assem bly.
D isengage link rods fro m pins.
4. R em ove two screw s which attach arm tran sm ission
pivot shaft assem bly to cow l. R em ove pivot shaft
assem bly with link rod fro m plenum cham ber.
Installation
1. P la c e pivot shaft assem bly with link rod into p o s i
tion at cowl bracket. Secure assem bly to bracket
with two screw s (fig . 22).
2. Attach end of link rod to linkage of m otor d rive
and arm assem bly at center o f cowl. Secure rod
with reta in er. If opposite p ivot shaft and link rod
was rem oved, in stall it at the sam e tim e.
3. Install outside a ir cow l ven tila to r g r ille to top of
cowl using screw s (fig . 19).
