Patient Neck Count
After the patient background is measured and saved, Figure 6-31 will appear and the
patient’s neck must be counted to determine the activity of isotope concentrated in the
thyroid gland.

To measure the patient’s neck, select the
Yes button. You must make at least one neck
measurement. For multiple repetition protocols, you may omit the second count by selecting
No . To exit from the measurement process at any time without saving the measurement,
select Cancel . After the measurement has been completed, you will be given the
opportunity to reject the count. Figure 6-26 will appear and ask for data verification. Select
YES to accept the count and save the data to the patient result file, select NO to reject the
count data and return to the previous measurement in the counting sequence.
If Decay Correct Administered Dose was selected for the counting protocol, then subsequent
uptake counts on the same patient will automatically calculate the capsule count, and
proceed to Figure 6-30 and 6-31, patient background and neck counts.
If Measure Same Reference Dose Before Each Uptake was selected as the counting
protocol, then each subsequent uptake count of the same patient will require the entire
counting sequence from Figure 6-25 through Figure 6-31 to be repeated. The software does
allow the option to choose to decay correct subsequent counts rather than repeat the
capsule count. To decay correct subsequent capsule counts using Measure Same
Reference Dose protocol, select the
NO button from the Capsule Count Screen, Figure 6-25.
