BIOASSAY

 button from the CAPTUS

®

 2000 Main Menu Screen is selected, Figure 

9-1 appears.  The Bioassay module permits the user to measure and calculate the system 
efficiency for I 125, I 131, and I 123, and measure, calculate, and archive thyroid burden of 
staff personnel.  Bioassays are generally performed whenever radiation workers are 
occupationally exposed to unsealed or high activity iodine sources on a regular basis.  Any 
results which exceed preset trigger limits will be flagged. 
 

NOTE:

  Before beginning any measurements in the Bioassay module, follow the System 

Setup Procedures outlined in CHAPTER 4: SYSTEM SETUP, and the Quality Assurance 
Procedures outlined in CHAPTER 5: QUALITY ASSURANCE, to insure correct operation of 
the CAPTUS

®
