The filters will be applied only to the spectrum stored in location A. To apply a filter, choose
the desired filter from the option list. Then select the
Apply Filter button. The filtered
spectrum data will be stored in Spectrum B. The display mode will automatically switch to A
and B, and both the original data, Spectrum A, and the filtered data, Spectrum B will appear
in the MCA display area. The filter that was applied (and the counts removed from Spectrum
A) will appear in the smaller display area at the bottom of the screen. If you do not wish to
apply a filter, choose the
Cancel button. You will return to the main MCA display screen.
When a spectral filter is displayed in the lower display area, the cursor readout box will
display the channel, keV, and number of counts for the channel selected by the trackball
pointer in the same manner as the large display area. Place the pointer in the desired
location, the pointer will appear as a double headed arrow

below the arrow will appear in the cursor readout box.
To change the vertical display for the spectrum filter, click on the arrows on the control in the
box labeled vertical to the right of the smaller display area, Figure 10-18. The up arrow will
increase the vertical display scale, while the down arrow will decrease the vertical display
scale.
