The Reference Standard calibration information that appears for the Cesium 137 and
Europium 152 sources will not correspond to the information for the rod sources
provided with your system
. The information that appears corresponds to the sources used
by the Capintec Service Center when setting up and testing your system. You will have to
edit the calibration information so that it corresponds to your rod sources. The reference
standard information is necessary to measure the efficiency of the source in the Isotope
Library. For each reference standard, the Reference Standard database stores the name,
isotope, date, time, activity, and serial number of your reference source.
To enter information on a new standard, select the
ADD
button. Figure 4-10 will appear with
blank text boxes. Enter the name or serial number in alphanumeric characters. It may be
helpful to include the source activity in name, especially when two or more reference
standards of the same isotope are listed. Select the desired isotope from the isotope drop
down box. Over 60 isotopes are listed. Half life and energy emission information for the
isotopes on the list are stored in memory for radioactive decay and peak identification
programs. Enter the calibration date, the calibration time, and the activity of the standard at
the time it was calibrated. To save the information entered, select the
DONE
button. To exit
the screen without saving, choose the
CANCEL
button.
To modify stored information, select the
EDIT
button. The information previously entered for
the selected standard will appear. Change the listed information by selecting the appropriate
text box with the arrow and clicking. The information will be highlighted. New information will
type over the listed characters. To save the information entered, select the
DONE
button.
To exit the screen without saving, choose the
CANCEL
button.
To delete an entry, select the desired reference standard from the standard name drop down
list. Once the desired standard has been selected, choose the
DELETE
button. A message
which reads “Are you sure you want to delete this reference standard?” will appear. To delete
the displayed standard, choose
Yes
, to abort the delete command choose
No
.
Select the
PRINT LIBRARY
button to print the reference standard information stored in the
library. The isotope, name, and calibration information will be printed.
To exit the reference standards library module, select the
DONE
button. The software will
return to the CAPTUS
