Insure that all sources of radiation have been removed. Select OK to proceed with the
background measurement. To exit the background measurement screen without saving any
data select
CANCEL . Figure 9-3 will appear again with only the EXIT button active. The
only option at this time is to select EXIT and return to the Main Bioassay screen.
During the live acquisition process, COUNTING BACKGROUND will flash in red at the top of
the screen. Once the measurement has been completed Figure 9-5 will appear and require
data validation.

To accept the data and proceed to the next step in the measurement sequence, select
YES .
To reject the data and return to the previous counting prompt, select NO .
Once the background measurement has been completed and the data saved, the next step
in the efficiency measurement process is the measurement of the iodine standard. Figure 9-
6 will appear.

If I 131 or I 125 are selected, then Figure 9-6 will appear will the appropriate isotope in place
of I 123. Place the standard source in the neck phantom, and place the collimator as close
as possible to the phantom. Align the phantom in the center of the field of view. Select
OK
to proceed, or Cancel to exit without measuring the standard.
