COUNTING TIME AND PROBE DISTANCE
From the main THYROID UPTAKE screen as seen in Figure 6-1, select the Setup command
from the menu bar at the top left. Select the Defaults listing that appears in the drop down
list. A Default Settings window will appear as seen in Figure 6-14.

Enter the desired counting time and probe distance as shown in Figure 6-14. Default
settings are 300 seconds and a probe distance of 25 cm. Changing them creates new
defaults. By selecting a probe distance between 24.5 cm and 35 cm, the field of view will
meet ANSI 44.3. The counting time should be set to provide at least 10,000 total counts.
Note that the entire counting time need not elapse for each measurement. During
acquisition, a
STOP & SAVE button is available to stop the count before the preset time has
elapsed and save the count data. The counting time and probe distance will appear in each
patient demographic screen. These parameters may be changed for any patient as required.
After changing the probe distance and counting time default settings, select
DONE to save
them or CANCEL to return to the main THYROID UPTAKE screen.
ADDING NEW PATIENTS
From the main THYROID UPTAKE screen, Figure 6-1, choose the ADD button. The Edit
Patient Library screen will appear as shown in Figure 6-15. Enter your patient demographic
data: patient name, ID, date of birth, and physician. Move from one data entry field to
another by using the
Tab key, or placing the cursor in the appropriate field and clicking the
trackball. The date of birth, middle initial, and physician are optional fields and may be left
blank. The ID may be any combination of 16 alphanumeric characters.
