TRIGGER MODE
In trigger mode, the eLoa d wa its for a trigger signa l from the selected trigger source
(HOLD (local), BUS, EXTERNAL and
ETHERNET)
to switch to the user configured trigger leve l. The trigger level ca n be set to a va lue grea ter or less tha n the
ma in va lue. After ea ch trigge r level is rea ched, a nother trigge r level ca n be set and re-triggered to the new trigger level.
The trigger opera tion mode is only a va ila ble via remote opera tion. The trigger signa l ca n be sent from a ny of the trigger
sources or via the front pa nel TRIGGER hot k ey.
Note: All the operating modes can be programmed via the front panel or using GPIB/RS232/ETHERNET/ USB Interfaces
with the exception of TRIGGER operation, which is remotely controlled . In addition, each transient mode besides
CONTIN UOUS can be triggered through a negative edge triggered external TTL compatible signal. CONTINUOUS
Transient Operation will start as soon as PULSE is activated, and cannot be activated using a trigger signal.
Setting the Triggered Level:
1.
Connect the eLoa d to a PC via a ny of the interfa ces (GPIB/USB/Ethernet/RS-232)
2.
Communica te with the instrument using e-Tool 1, a nd confirm connection by sending the comma nd *IDN?
3.
The returned pa ra meter should indica te the eLoa d’s firmwa re revision number
4.
Select the Transient Mode via “TR:MOD 0” command, which will set the eLoad for Trigger operation
5.
Select the Trigger Source via TRIG:SOUR a nd followed by one of the following selections EXT (externa l
trigger), BUS (Bus Trigger), ETH (Ethernet Trigger), a nd HOLD (Loca l Trigger). Plea se refer to the ta ble 3.1
for further trigger source deta ils.
6.
Set the Trigger Dela y to the desired a mount of time via TRIG:DEL a nd time entry in ms.
7.
Set the Triggered Level via CURR:TRIG (current), VOLT:TRIG (volta ge), RES:TRIG (resista nce) a nd
POW:TRIG (power) comma nd, followed by the desired numerica l va lue, such a s 1 or 15.
8.
Set the Ma in Level via CURR, VOLT, RES AND POW comma nd, followed by the desired numerica l va lue.
9.
Turn the input on via the INP 1 comma nd.
10.
Trigger the eLoa d via Trig or *TRG.
Note:
The “TRIG” command will trigger under all trigger sources with the exception of Ethernet (Ethernet Trigger
is reserved for the MCU-1 Controller), and the *TRG command will only work when the trigger source is selected to
“BUS.” Please refer to table 3.1 for the appropriate trigger commands for the various trigg er sources.
