ONE: FEATURES AND OPERATION OVERVIEW
INTRODUCTION
The PLA a nd PLW Series Progra mma ble DC Electronic Loa d (eLoa d) from AMREL offers a complete solution to the
electronic loa d system requirements. This instrument wa s designed to a ssist in the development a nd testing of new
products, a s well a s is be ing a sta nda rd instrument for a utoma tic test systems a nd eva lua tion of dc power supplies,
batteries, a nd power components. Other a pplica tions include use a s a power circuit brea ker or crowba r, high current
function or pulse genera tor, fuel-cell a nd photovolta ic cell test, a nd de-energiz ing super conducting ma gnets. This
instrument uses a dvanced power MOSFETs to d issipa te t he input power. The electron ic loa d consumes minimum power
to control ma ximum input power ha ndling ca pability. Complex circuits a re used to control the power ba lance a nd
dissipa tion of the MOSFET. This control circu it a lso supports the Consta nt Volta ge (CV), Consta nt Current (CC),
Consta nt Resista nce (CR), a nd Constant Power (CP) modes of opera tion. It comes with Sta nda rd Commands for
Progra mma ble Instrument (SCPI) comma nds, remote monitoring of input volta ge a nd currents is a sta nda rd fea tures. The
electronic loa d ca n be used either on your bench or in a sta nda rd 19 in. (483 mm) ra ck: occupies 3.5” - 8.75” (2U - 5 U)
of vertica l ra ck spa ce. Designed for continuous use in sta nda lone or systems a pplica tions, this e lectronic loa d is typica lly
used to eva lua te DC equipment, control circuits, or burn -in power a pplica tions.
