Introduction

The memory card is not co v ered under the 4284A's w arrant y . If the
memory card b ecomes defectiv e ev en within the w arrant y p erio d of
the 4284A, the memory card m ust b e paid for b y the user.
Serial Number
Agilent T ec hnologies uses a t w o-section, nine c haracter serial n um b er
whic h is stamp ed on the serial n um b er plate (Figure 9-1) attac hed
to the instrumen t's rear panel. The rst four digits and a letter are
the serial n um b er prex, and the last v e digits are the sux. The
letter placed b et w een the t w o sections iden ties the coun try where
the instrumen t w as man ufactured. The prex is the same for all
iden tical instrumen ts; it c hanges only when a c hange is made to the
instrumen t. The sux, ho w ev er, is assigned sequen tially and is
dieren t for eac h instrumen t. The con ten ts of this man ual apply to
instrumen ts with the serial n um b er prex(es) listed under the serial
n um b ers on the title page.
