The basic rules of the command tree are as follows.
Letter case (upp er and low er) is ignored.
F or example,
FUNC:IMP CPD = func:imp CpD = FuNc:IMp cPd
Spaces ( t used to indicate a space) m ust not b e placed b efore
and/or after the colon ( : ).
F or example,
(wrong) FUNC t: tIMP CPD ! (right) FUNC:IMP CPD
The command can b e completely sp elled out or in abbreviated.
(The rules for command abbreviation are describ ed later in this
section)

FUNCTION:IMPEDANCE CPD = FUNC:IMP CPD
The command header should b e follo w ed b y a question mark (?) to
generate a query for that command.

The semicolon (;) can b e used as a separator to execute m ultiple
commands on a single line. The m ultiple command rules are as
follo ws.
Commands at the same lev el and in the same subsystem command
group can b e separated b y a semicolon (;) on a m ultiple command
line.

FUNC:SMON:VAC ON;IAC ON
T o restart commands from the highest lev el, a semicolon (;) m ust
b e used as the separator, and then a leading colon (:), whic h
sho ws that the restarted command is a command at the top of the
command tree, m ust follo w.

FUNC:IMP CPD;:FUNC:SMON:VAC ON
The GPIB common commands can restart only after a semicolon
on a m ultiple command line.

The GPIB common commands k eeps the previous commands lev el
